How to Get More Clients by Doing Less

""Do less, but do it better." – Tim Ferris

Hi Reader,

Be honest—how much of your time is spent on marketing tasks that aren’t bringing in clients?

You’re posting on Instagram, writing emails, updating your website, tweaking your offers… but are you actually seeing results from it all?

Here’s the truth...

Not all marketing efforts are created equal.

The 80/20 Rule (also called the Pareto Principle) says that 80% of your results come from just 20% of your efforts.

That means a small number of actions—the right ones—are bringing you the majority of your leads and revenue.

The rest? Likely just busy work.

This week, let’s figure out what’s actually working in your marketing—and what you can stop wasting time on.

💡 How to Apply the 80/20 Rule to Your Marketing

Instead of trying to "do it all," use these three steps to identify, double down on, and optimize the activities that bring in real clients.

1. Identify What’s Actually Driving Results

Before you can optimize your marketing, you need to figure out what’s working best.

Action Step:

✔ Look at your last 5-10 clients—where did they come from? (Instagram, referrals, email, your website?)
✔ Check which content, ads, or posts brought in the most leads.
✔ Review what offers converted best (1:1 coaching, group programs, challenges?).

👉 Takeaway: If 80% of your clients came from referrals and only 5% from Instagram—stop stressing about Instagram and double down on referrals!

2. Cut or Automate Low-Impact Tasks

Once you identify what’s not working, it’s time to eliminate or automate it.

Action Step:

Stop spending time on marketing channels that aren’t bringing in clients.
Batch & schedule social media posts instead of posting daily.
Automate lead nurturing emails instead of manually following up.

Example:
🚀 If referrals bring in 80% of your clients, build an automated "bring a friend" referral campaign instead of worrying about getting viral Instagram posts.

👉 Takeaway: Less effort, bigger results.

3. Double Down on What Works

If one strategy is already bringing in most of your results, do more of it.

Action Step:

✔ If email marketing converts best → Send 2-3 strategic emails per week.
✔ If referrals work → Add a referral rewards program to incentivize more word-of-mouth marketing.
✔ If a specific type of content performs well → Create more of it and repurpose it across platforms.

👉 Takeaway: Put more energy into what’s already driving success—ignore the distractions.

ANDREW WALLIS YOUR FITNESS BUSINESS GUIDE Hey Reader, Last week I sent an email about why your content strategy might be backward - and I got this reply from Zahid, a weight loss coach: “I want to know more about content type… not sure about my niche or how to know it.” Honestly? That’s a common challenge—and a smart question. Because if you don’t know who you’re talking to, or what they care about, creating content that actually works becomes a guessing game. So let’s fix that. Start with...
